Figs....Prosciutto...Walnuts...and gooey brie cheese.... cocooned on fluffy pizza dough...

Don’t be intimidated, making homemade pizza dough is easy, give it a try!

All you’ll need is:

  • 5-6 cups of flour

  • 2 packets of instant yeast

  • 1 tablespoon of sea salt

  • 1 tablespoon of sugar

  • 2-21/2 cups of lukewarm water

In a bowl mix the sugar, yeast, and a few tablespoons of water, and wait until it foams, about 15 mins, then mix it with the rest of the water.

On a flat surface mix the rest of the flour and salt and make a small mountain with a hole in the middle, start adding water slowly into the hole and start mixing with your fingers, knead until you form a ball.

Once the ball is formed, take a plastic bowl and with a paper towel add oil all around the bowl, add the dough, cover the top with plastic wrap and then two hand towels. Let rise for 1-2 hours until it gets much bigger( when it’s about doubled). Knead again, and put back in the bowl to let it rise once more for an hour.

Once it has risen, and is fluffy to the touch, on a floured flat surface, form the dough with a rolling pin, to fit the pan of your choice. I suggest finish forming your dough with your hands by stretching the dough slightly from the middle to the edge.

If you’d like a fluffier dough, a third proof cycle in the oven is suggested. Put on the oven at 145 degrees, and proof for 20 mins.

*** Once its proofed. You are ready to dress your pizza!! Take a look at some of my favourites! ***

Turn the oven on to 380 degrees and bake your pizza for about 30 mins or until the dough is cooked through and just about browning.

Pair it with a glass of Brio and Enjoy!

COOKING TIPS

#1

When a recipe asks for celery, add fennel instead. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the elevation of flavour.

#2

Every month add one new spice or marinade to your pantry, and use it at least once a week during that month, buy looking for recipes on-line. This will allow you to not only learn about new spices and flavour combinations but make you much more comfortable with creating your own and experimenting with your dishes.

#3

Don't buy prepackaged. Be your own butcher! Buy larger pieces of meat for cheaper and prepare them at home. This will allow you to incorporate more expensive pieces of meat on a weekly budget, experiment with more recipes and save you lots of money!
